About Cane

A brave little dog with a very big job

Cane isn't scared of thunder — he chases it. With his pointy ears, his shiny red collar, and his gold name tag, Cane rides shotgun in the big red storm-chasing truck and learns what makes the sky rumble, the wind howl, and the rain pour down.

Every adventure ends the same wonderful way: Cane figures out how to stay safe — and teaches the kids reading along how to do it too. From thunderstorms to blizzards to hurricanes, Cane proves that the more you understand the weather, the less it has to be scary.

🐾 A true story

Cane is a real dog who lives with his Daddy Scott in Miami Beach. When Cane was little, he didn’t have a home. Daddy Scott found him and adopted him. Now, they spend all their time together chasing storms and keeping kids safe.

About Cane's Daddy

Daddy Scott

a real storm chaser

In every book, Cane's daddy heads out to watch the weather up close. Kids love him because he's calm, kind, and always knows what to do when the sky turns wild.

Off the page, Daddy Scott is Scott Withers — a four-time Emmy-winning Miami broadcast meteorologist and environmental geoscientist (M.S.). He's spent his career keeping real families safe on TV, and he writes every Cane book so the science is true and the safety advice is the same he'd give on air.

These aren't just cute weather stories. They're written by someone who does this for a living.
